Drug supply charges following vehicle stop in Tuncurry

A man has been charged with multiple drug offences after a vehicle stop in Tuncurry today, NSW Police say.

About 7.45am today, Target Action Group police from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command attempted to stop a white Suzuki driving on Parkes Street.

Police will allege that as the car stopped, the front passenger ran from the vehicle.

Two officers ran after the man, who allegedly threw an object over a fence before they were able to arrest him with the assistance of a passer-by.

A nearby backyard was searched and officers allegedly located a sock containing a number of small bags containing what is suspected to be methylamphetamine. A search of the man also allegedly located an amount of cash on his person.

A search warrant was executed a short time later at a unit in Parkes Street.

Officers allegedly located a large amount of cash, an electronic stun device, an amount of cannabis and methylamphetamine, white powder and 39 tablets of what is suspected of being MDMA ("Ecstasy"), a tablet press and other drug paraphernalia.

All items were secured for forensic analysis.

The 37-year-old man was taken to Forster Police Station and charged with, supply prohibited drug (x3), possess prohibited drug, possess tablet press, possess prohibited weapon, goods in custody (x2), assault police and resist arrest and breach of bail.

He was refused bail to appear at Forster Local Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing in relation to the driver of the vehicle.
