Drug trafficking charge at Brookhill, QLD

Officers from the Townsville Rapid Action and Patrols (RAP) charged a man overnight in relation to the alleged discovery of cannabis in a car, Queensland Police say.

Around 12.30am police intercepted the vehicle on the Flinders Highway at Brookhill when a subsequent search of the car allegedly uncovered bags of cannabis weighing almost 11 kilograms.

A 61-year-old Nanum man has been charged with one count each of trafficking in dangerous drugs, possession of a dangerous drug and possessing property suspected of having been used in connection with a drug offence.

He is due to face Townsville Magistrates Court today.

Police investigations are continuing.
