A man has been charged after an alleged domestic-related incident in Hillston last week, NSW Police say.
A group of people were at a home on Molesworth Street, Hillston, about 9am last (Friday 26 January 2018), when an argument ensued, and it is alleged a man picked up a rifle and pointed it at two women, aged 25 and 22 years.
The older woman disarmed the man; however, he allegedly armed himself with another weapon.
He allegedly hit the 25-year-old woman causing a minor laceration. A short time later the man left the home and attended Hillston Hospital with an injury, where he underwent assessment.
About 9am on Sunday 28 January 2018, police received a report of the incident, and a 27-year-old man was subsequently arrested at Hillston Hospital about 1.30pm and taken to Griffith Police Station.
A search warrant was executed at a home on Gratton Street, Hillston, where police found six firearms and a hydroponic set-up. Police also found chemicals allegedly capable of being used to manufacture explosives.
The items were seized and will undergo forensic analysis.
The man has now been charged with 14 offences:
• Possess loaded firearm to endanger life
• Common assault
• Assault occasioning actual bodily harm
• Intimidation
• Possess ammunition whilst not authorised
• Handle/use firearm under influence of alcohol/drug
• Handle explosive/precursor without authorising licence
• Cultivate prohibited plant
• Supply prohibited drug (deemed)
• Possess unregistered firearm x 2
• Not keep firearm safely x 3.
He appeared at Griffith Bail Court on Monday 29 January 2018, where he was refused bail to re-appear at Griffith Local Court on Wednesday 21 February 2018.
