Drugs and weapons charges in Toowoomba, QLD

The Darling Downs District Tactical Crime Squad has charged eight people with drugs and weapons offences following a number of raids in the Toowoomba area this week, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged a series of search warrants were executed this week with police locating stolen firearms, ammunition, 50 grams of cannabis, 20 grams of methamphetamine, mobile phones, chemicals and equipment to grow cannabis, scales, a native python and 50 MDMA tablets.

A total of eight people have been charged with a range of offences including possession of dangerous drugs, possession of utensils or smoking cannabis, possession of things used to commit drug crimes, possession of explosives, receiving stolen firearms, possession of dangerous drugs exceeding schedule, producing dangerous drugs, unlawful possession of a native python and supplying dangerous drugs.

All will appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court next month.

Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Loveday said police have been able to continue with their focus on these types of offences thanks to the ever vigilant members of the public who continue to supply timely and accurate information and encourage the public to continue providing this information.

"This intelligence driven tactical actions were undertaken to identify and reduce drug and weapons crime and the indirect results of such unlawful community wide.

"I urge community members to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
