Drugs found during vehicle, NSW

A man and a woman will face court next week after they were allegedly found in possession of drugs during a vehicle search, NSW Police say.

About 11.10pm yesterday, police were patrolling The Hume Highway at Goulburn, when they stopped a Mitsubishi Mirage.

The female driver was subjected to a roadside drug test which gave a positive result.

Officers subsequently searched the vehicle allegedly locating more than 21 grams of methylamphetamine or ‘ICE’ and over 20 grams of heroin.

The 23-year-old woman and her male passenger, aged 35, were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where they were charged in relation to drug supply.

They were both refused bail and will appear in Goulburn Local Court on Tuesday 13 June 2017.

Traffic & Highway Patrol Command’s Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy said this arrest was proof that CATCH training continues to deliver both road safety and crime reduction results for the community.

"While our focus continues to be road safety, those that are detected for other offences will also be prosecuted accordingly," said Assistant Commissioner Corboy.

"Those using our highways to commit crime have been put on notice and can expect to be intercepted by Traffic & Highway Patrol Command Officers, " he said.

Inquiries continue.
