Drugs found when car searched in Goulburn

A man has been charged with drugs and weapons offences when a car was searched at Goulburn overnight, NSW Police say.

Just before 1am today, police from The Hume Local Area Command Target Action Group were patrolling a car park at Rocky Hill when they stopped and spoke to two men in a parked car.

A search of the men and the car located 20 MDMA (‘Ecstasy’) pills, knuckle dusters, a hunting knife, several mobile phones, drug paraphernalia and electronic devices.

About 200 pills and a bag containing a white-powder substance were also located in the car and have been secured for forensic analysis.

The men were arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station.

A 23-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, possess prohibited weapon, and possess knife in a public place.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 26 October 2016.

A 36-year-old man was later released pending further inquiries.

Investigations are continuing.
