Drugs, stolen property, weapons found during vehicle stop in Wollongong

Police have charged a man after allegedly locating drugs, prohibited weapons and stolen property during a vehicle stop in Wollongong, NSW Police say.

About 3.45pm today, police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command stopped a Toyota Hilux on Crown Street after observing suspicious behaviour.

Police spoke to the 31-year-old male driver before searching the vehicle.

Inside the vehicle, police allegedly located methamphetamine, MDMA, along with a set of knuckle dusters, further antique coins, and several rounds of .22 round ammunition.

During a search of the 31-year-old man, police allegedly located more methamphetamine, gold coins, and two gold rings.

He was arrested and taken to Wollongong Police Station, where he was charged with supply prohibited drug (x2), possess prohibited drug, possess prohibited weapon, possess stolen property, possess ammunition, possess knife in public place (2nd offence), and possess drug equipment.

He was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow.
