Two people have been charged with firearms and theft offences in the state's west.
On Thursday 22 May 2025, officers attached to Central West Police District commenced an investigation into the theft of a Toyota HiAce van from Marsden Street, Condobolin.
About 11:30pm on Saturday 24 May 2025 the vehicle was located in Crouch Street, Forbes.
Following inquiries, at 8pm yesterday (Thursday 28 August 2025), officers arrested a 24-year-old man at a property in Crouch Street, Forbes and executed a Firearm Prohibition Compliance search at that property. Police allegedly located a backpack containing a sawn-off double barrel shotgun as well as live shotgun cartridges.
A 30-year-old woman were also arrested at the scene.
They were taken to Parkes Police Station where the man was charged with:
- possess shortened firearm
- possession unregistered firearm
- firearm found at premises – subject to prohibition order
- acquire firearm subject to order
- acquire ammunition subject to order
- take and drive conveyance without consent of owner
- enter conveyance without consent
He was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court today, Friday 29 August 2025.
The woman was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and enter conveyance without consent.
She was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Parkes Local Court on Thursday 4 September 2025.
