Early openers shut down

A group of constables on their first booze bus shift had an eye opening start to their road safety career in St Kilda this morning, Victoria Police say.

They were on Canterbury Road when a man in his 40s pulled into the line about 10.30am.

After recording a positive preliminary breath test, he recorded a reading on 0.170% BAC in an evidentiary breath test.

Police also determined his licence had been suspended.

His Toyota RAV4 was subsequently impounded and he will be charged on summons with a range of traffic offences.
