Early Learning Association Australia announces David Worland as new CEO

Early Learning Association Australia (ELAA) is pleased to announce the appointment of David Worland as ELAA's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

David has an extensive career in community focused roles in the early childhood education and health sectors. His previous role was as CEO of the Australian Childcare Alliance Victoria, in which capacity he has been a strong voice for the immense value of high quality early childhood education and care to children, their families and the broader community.

Reflecting on his appointment, David said "I am honoured and excited to have been selected to lead this wonderful association".

"ELAA has a great history supporting its members to deliver high quality early childhood education and care. I look forward to leading ELAA, with a focus on ensuring that investment in early childhood education and care is increased and linked to quality evidence-based practice models. I am also very committed to addressing access issues for vulnerable children and their families."

David has solid executive leadership experience in membership associations, with strategy and change management experience, and has a demonstrated track record of working in complex stakeholder environments to improve outcomes.

Prior to the Australian Childcare Alliance, David had a successful four year contract at the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) as General Manager, Education Services. In this capacity, David led improved service delivery outcomes for General Practitioners and the Australian community. Before that, David was Director, Business Strategy at the Transport Accident Commission (TAC), in which capacity he successfully developed a long term strategy to support the TAC’s relocation from Melbourne to Geelong.

"We look forward to working with David toward achieving ELAA’s vision of excellence in early learning for every child," said ELAA Acting President, Joanne Geurts.

David will commence in the CEO role on 14 May, 2018.
