East-West Rail Corridor Flood: Network Status Update 1 March

ARTC

The Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is managing the impact of significant rainfall across the East West rail corridor, with sections between Ooldea and Watson in remote South Australia closed.

Floodwaters impacting the track yesterday have receded enabling damage to be assessed, while inspections of the Broken Hill line are underway after heavy rainfall (up to 130mm) in the past 24 hours at Yunta.

Crews and equipment are mobilised at key locations, to enable a rapid response to recovery works when it is safe to do so and when site conditions allow.

ARTC continues to monitor on-ground conditions in real-time and work in close consultation with our specialist weather providers.

Closures are implemented in accordance with our extreme weather policy, prioritising the safety of our people, customers and the integrity of the network.

ARTC remains in direct communication with customers and will provide further updates as conditions develop.
