Dept of Education, Skills and Employment

The report provides an update on the current state of regional, rural and remote education in the areas of early childhood, schools, vocational education and training and higher education.

The report highlights successful case studies, details stakeholder consultation and notes progress of measures relevant to regional, rural and remote education.

It includes 29 issues for consideration and one proposal for consideration for strengthening education outcomes in the regions.

"Regional people continue to share with me their love of living, learning and working in regional Australia," Commissioner Nash said.

"The positive aspects of life in regional, rural and remote communities are not easy to define, and even harder to measure, but the common themes I have heard and experienced is the connectedness, the sense of community, and the ability of regional people to roll their sleeves up and work together to get the job done and find their own solutions.

"Improving outcomes in regional, rural and remote education requires connection across all levels of government, education departments and stakeholders, whilst respecting the uniqueness of every community."
