Elderly man assaulted during home invasion at Wee Waa

Police are investigating after an elderly man was assaulted during a home invasion in Wee Waa overnight.

About 1.20am (Monday 30 August 2021), police were called to a home on Warrior Street, Wee Waa, following reports of a home invasion.

Police were told an 81-year-old male resident awoke to find two unknown men in his bedroom.

When the man got out of bed, one of the men assaulted him, before the pair fled the scene.

Officers from Oxley Police District attended and conducted an extensive search of the area; however, the men were not located.

During a search of the home, police seized a number of items, including a knife, log splitter and head lamp, which will be forensically examined.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation launched into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
