Elderly man charged with domestic violence offences, NSW

A 97-year-old man has been charged with domestic violence offences after his 80-year-old wife was hospitalised with leg and neck fractures last night, NSW Police say.

About 7pm today, Ambulance Paramedics were called to a home on Kerle Street, Redhead following reports a woman was injured.

It’s alleged the woman’s husband pushed her during an argument, causing her to fall to the ground.

The woman was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she received treatment for a fractured leg, fractured neck and facial injuries.

The man was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station, where he was charged with reckless grievous bodily harm and served with an Apprehended Violence Order (DV).

He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Belmont Local Court on 3 July 2017.
