Elderly woman taken from Clarinda nursing home

Police are investigating after an elderly woman was taken from a Clarinda nursing home this afternoon, Victoria Police say.

An unidentified woman entered the Inverness Street nursing home about 12pm today and wheeled 97-year-old Dimitra Pavlopoulou out to the car park.

It appears Dimitra was placed into a vehicle and driven off, leaving the wheelchair behind.

Details of the vehicle and direction of travel are unknown.

The woman is not believed to be known to Dimitra or her family.

Police hold concerns for Dimitra’s welfare and urge members of the public to keep a look-out for her.

Dimitra has dementia, speaks limited English, is extremely frail and cannot walk by herself.

An image of the unidentified woman is released in the hope someone recognises her and can provide information on her whereabouts.

The woman is perceived to be of Caucasian appearance, aged in her 30s or 40s, with a medium build, dark long hair and dark eyes.

She was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, light blue three-quarter length pants and dark-coloured sandals.

Anyone who sights Dimitra or the unidentified woman is urged to call Triple Zero (000).
