Emergency situation declared in White Rock, QLD

Police have declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act in White Rock this morning, Queensland Police say.

Officers were called to an address on Progress Road around 8.20am following reports a man was inside a residence with a gas bottle.

Police hold concerns for his wellbeing and are at the scene monitoring the situation.

The declaration was made at 9.30am and police have a cordon in place that encompasses Progress Road between Coombes Street, Burnett Street and Tiffany Street.

Police are asking any motorists to avoid the area.
