Employee injured during altercation at Parramatta

An employee has been injured after a knife was thrown at her during an altercation at a cigarette store in Parramatta tonight.

About 7.45pm (Monday 20 May 2019), a male, believed to be aged between 16 and 18, entered a tobacconist in Greenway Plaza.

He approached the counter and spoke with a female employee - aged in her early 30s – where a verbal argument ensued.

The man has then thrown a kitchen knife at the employee that hit her in the face, just missing her eye.

He ran from the store in company of a second man who was waiting outside.

Emergency services were called, and the woman was treated for a puncture wound to her head and was taken to Westmead Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.

A crime scene has been established at the store while detectives from Parramatta Police Area Command conduct a full investigation.
