Last year Wodonga Heart Footbal Club were in need of four new soccer goals down at Willow Park.
The club applied for a Community Impact Infrastructure Grant through Wodonga Council and was successful.
"We applied for $10,000 to go towards the purchase of four new soccer goals for Willow Park," Wodonga Heart Football Club Secretary Rose Martin said.
"The process of applying for the grant was easy and staff at Wodonga Council were there to help in the process.
"We are extremely grateful for the grant money and look forward to installing the goals soon."
The club teaches and trains the local community in the skill of soccer where teams are made from male and female participants from various ages (5 to 55 years), nationalities, disabilities and skill levels.
Ms Martin said every bit of funding helps.
"The application part was easy, I encourage others to apply." she said.
Wodonga Council has multiple funding sources available for individuals, community groups and organisations.
These grant programs aim to empower community groups and organisations and help to make Wodonga a better city for all residents.
The Community Impact Grants provide funding up to $3000 to local community groups and non-for-profit organisations, for projects and events which positively contribute to the Wodonga community. The program has four categories:
- Building stronger communities;
- Environmental sustainability;
- Community events;and,
- Arts and culture.
The Community Infrastructure Grants provide funding up to $10,000 to local community groups and non-for profit organisations for equipment and infrastructure works that directly benefit Wodonga residents.
The Community Impact Partnership Grants provide seed funding to non-profit organisations, up to $10,000 for up to three years (up to a total of $30,000), for startup initiatives that link to the project aims outlined in the grant guidelines.
