Energy efficient lighting installed at Nowra Showground

Shoalhaven City Council recently completed works to install four new light towers, floodlights and electrical boards to the sports field at Nowra Showground.

The completed project cost of $168,044 was fully funded by the NSW State Government, with the grant funding allowing the installation of energy efficient LED flood lighting which use 50 per cent less power than traditional floodlight fittings.

Shoalhaven City Council Mayor Amanda Findley was pleased to see the added new lighting installation completed.

"It is wonderful to see State Government investment into the historic and iconic Nowra Showground. The Showground is a much-loved community asset and it is essential that we continue to maintain and enhance our community assets to ensure they serve our sporting groups today and into the future," Clr Findley said.

"The energy saving light fittings are a real advantage and will deliver significant cost savings for Council in running the lights, as well as reducing our energy consumption which is a great outcome for Council and the community."

"The new lighting will help to increase the safety and playability of the field and in conjunction with further State Government funding for the enhancement of the Nowra Showground, will see the Nowra Showground become a real drawcard for significant agricultural, sporting and community events." Clr Findley said.
