Local businesses had reason to celebrate at the South Burnett Business Builders Networking event tonight, where the Building a Better Burnett business plan was officially launched.
Federal Member for Wide Bay Llew O’Brien said the project will strengthen the resilience of existing rural businesses and support the development of start-up businesses in the region.
"This plan will deliver three workshops, influenced by participants across town-based businesses, primary producers and start-ups, to tackle the various challenges businesses face in the region," MrO’Brien said.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Michael McCormack said the project will inspire, support and mentor participants, building their capacity and boosting the region’s economy.
"These workshops will result in a business growth action plan and a strong business network within the region that will live on beyond the end date of the project," Mr McCormack said.
Mayor of South Burnett Keith Campbell said the project presents a range of opportunities for Burnett businesses and will foster collaboration.
"By bringing together like-minded people throughout the region to share their experiences and inspiration, we are helping to drive the entrepreneurial spirit key to our region’s economic success," CrCampbell said.
The Federal Liberal and Nationals’ Government invested $25,000, the South Burnett Regional Council $10,000, AGL Energy Limited $10,000, the University of Southern Queensland $5,000 and the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation Inc. $379 to fund the project.
