Escapee arrested at Unanderra, NSW

Police have arrested a man who allegedly escaped from a minimum-security correctional centre in Unanderra today, NSW Police say.

Officers from Lake Illawarra Police District were searching for the 23-year-old after it was noticed he was missing from the centre about 1.15am.

Following inquiries, police attended a home in Lowana Place at Unanderra about 7pm today where they located the man inside.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with escape lawful custody.

The man was bail refused to appear at Wollongong Local Court tomorrow (Saturday 13 January 2018).
