Evade Police - White Holden Commodore Ute, TAS

Police are seeking witnesses and information, including dash cam footage following a motor vehicle incident in Launceston last night, Tasmania Police say.

Police were conducting random breath testing on Elphin Road, near Lyttleton Street focusing on south bound traffic leaving the CBD. At approximately 7:50pm, a white 2010 Holden Commodore Utility with a hard top and silver mag wheels was observed to pull conduct a u-turn prior to the RBT site and travel west.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle which was then observed travelling at high speed on High Street where the vehicle committed a number of serious traffic offences and evaded police.

The driver was the only occupant of the vehicle and has been described by witnesses as being in his early 20s, wearing a white t-shirt.

The vehicle is a white Holden Commodore ute with a hard top, approximately 2010 model, with silver mag wheels, lowered, tinted windows and a sticker in the centre of the rear window.

The vehicle was sighted at high speed on David Street at Newstead travelling east, and was last sighted failing to stop at red traffic lights at the intersection of Elphin Road and Hobblers Bridge Road. It then turned left where it was sighted travelling east at high speed.

Police are calling for information, including dash cam footage, about the man’s whereabouts and driving behaviour around the time of the incident.

Information can be provided to Launceston Police via 6777 3946 or anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers.
