Events to attract more visitors to our regions

Jeremy Rockliff, Acting Premier

Tourism and events fuel Tasmania's economy and the Hodgman majority Liberal Government is committed to attracting visitors to every corner of our state.

That's why we're investing $91,400 of matched funding through the Marketing Tasmania grants program, run by Events Tasmania, to support 18 events across the state.

The program is designed to cater for both large and small events, with different funding tiers, providing options to help target visitors from within Tasmania, and from interstate.

Events receiving the funding are located across Tasmania, and include the Clarence Jazz Festival, King Island Imperial 20 and the Tassie Scallop Fiesta, to be held in Bridport.

In 2018-19, events supported by Events Tasmania attracted 88,950 visitors, pumping about $88.5 million into our economy.

The Hodgman majority Liberal Government is continuing to invest to maintain the momentum in our thriving visitor economy, and to ensure every region reaps the benefits.
