Every Step Forward Counts This 26Ten Week

Tasmanian Government

Tasmanians are invited to come together from October 20 to 26 for 26Ten Week – a vibrant statewide celebration dedicated to literacy, numeracy, lifelong learning, and community connection.

This year's theme, Every Step Forward Counts, highlights the importance of every individual's journey in learning and encourages everyone to share their personal stories of growth and achievement.

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said whether learning something new or helping others, everyone's story matters.

"Sharing literacy and numeracy stories helps build a stronger, more connected Tasmania – one step at a time," Minister Palmer said.

"When adults connect with literacy and numeracy support in their community, they inspire others.

"It is important that as adults, we're constantly learning new skills and sharing our experiences with others.

"That may be learning how to use new equipment or technology, or improving your reading, writing and number skills. Trained literacy and numeracy staff and volunteers across the state are ready to help you."

Fun and interactive events and activities are taking place in libraries, workplaces and community spaces across the state to mark 26Ten Week.

Libraries Tasmania is a key partner in the 26Ten program.
