The ESCWA project on "Strengthening evidence-based interventions for road safety in the Arab region" was selected for funding by the UN Road Safety Fund (UNRSF) along with nine other winning projects.
The project aims at boosting Arab countries' technical capacities in developing effective and sustainable evidence-based policies for road safety through the establishment of common and standardized processes, to analyze disaggregated data on road crashes fatalities and injuries in the region. The project includes providing adequate training, capacity building and technical assistance to ESCWA member States.
The 10 winning projects were announced during a virtual meeting on the sidelines of the 2nd UN Global Sustainable Transport Conference held in Beijing.
