Executive Director of WorkSafe Tasmania appointed

I am pleased to announce that Robyn Pearce has been appointed the new Executive Director of WorkSafe Tasmania.

Ms Pearce, who has been acting in the position since March this year, was formerly WorkSafe's Director Industry Safety and has a strong background in strategy and people management across several State Service positions, including in the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Tasmania Fire Service.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ms Pearce has successfully and skilfully collaborated with the State Controller, various Government agencies, industry and unions on the development, implementation and continuous evaluation and improvement of the Tasmanian Government's COVID Safe Workplaces Framework as part of the COVID-19 Roadmap to Recovery.

Under Ms Pearce's leadership, WorkSafe Tasmania has performed more than 3000 COVID-19 workplace inspections, issuing 21 Improvement Notices and one Prohibition Notice, leading the organisation to provide an educative approach that has greatly assisted Tasmanian businesses get back to work safely.

Ms Pearce will also take on the statutory role of Regulator under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.
