- Another 17 Sunshine Coast and three Moreton Bay localities have been activated for hardship assistance following last week's hailstorms.
- Eligible residents can use payments to purchase essentials such as food, clothing and medicine, and to cover other emergency costs.
- Hardship assistance from the Albanese and Crisafulli Governments now available to more than 130 localities from Redland to Noosa.
More areas on the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay have been activated for Personal Hardship Assistance through the joint Commonwealth-state Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA) in response to last week's severe storms.
The Albanese and Crisafulli Governments have extended the emergency payments to eligible residents in the following additional localities:
Sunshine Coast: Beerburrum, Bli Bli, Buddina, Coochin Creek, Curramore, Diddillibah, Eerwah Vale, Eumundi, Forest Glen, Point Arkwright, Valdora, Verrierdale, Yandina, Yandina Creek, Weyba Downs, Witta, Wurtulla.
Moreton Bay: Griffin, Joyner, Stony Creek.
Support includes grants of $180 for individuals and up to $900 for a family of five or more to purchase emergency essentials, and a range of income-tested measures for uninsured residents.
More than 130 localities across Noosa, Moreton Bay, Redland and Sunshine Coast are now activated for Personal Hardship Assistance following recent hailstorms. The full list, and information on grants, eligibility and how to apply, is at www.disaster.qld.gov.au .
Federal Minister for Emergency Management Kristy McBain said the Australian Government is committed to supporting communities impacted by these severe storms.
"I'm pleased to announce that hardship assistance has been extended to more residents who need help getting back on their feet," Minister McBain said.
"These payments will provide immediate relief for households that have been without power and suffered damage, helping them cover essential costs like food, clothing and medicine."
"We're also making sure vulnerable members of the community have access to targeted support so they can reconnect vital services and feel safe in their homes as recovery begins."
Queensland Minister for Disaster Recovery Ann Leahy said no Queenslanders should fall through the cracks because of extreme weather.
"Through the Queensland Reconstruction Authority we are in close contact with affected communities to make sure they have access to all necessary support measures," Minister Leahy said.
