Extradition, kidnapping and torture charge – Morningside

Detectives from Dutton Park CIB have extradited a 31-year-old man from New South Wales on a string of charges including kidnapping for ransom, armed robbery, torture and deprivation of liberty, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged that a 41-year-old man was held against his will, assaulted and threatened with further violence if money was not paid on February 18, 2012.

The victim was allegedly bound and placed in the boot of a vehicle by two men before being transported to a location at Holland Park. The man was allegedly required to supply a sum of money to the offenders to secure his release.

It will be further alleged the victim was again contacted by the men and agreed to meet with them on February 26 after being threatened. The three travelled to a location in Morningside where the victim was allegedly held against his will and tortured before he managed to escape.

The man sustained facial injuries and was transported to hospital for further treatment.

A 31-year-old Marryland man has since been extradited on 13 charges including kidnapping for ransom, extortion, torture, deprivation of liberty, armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle and is due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

A 26-year-old man was charged with 13 offences including kidnapping for ransom, torture, deprivation of liberty, extortion and armed robbery and in and faced court in 2012.
