F-16 crashes at Shaw AFB

One pilot was killed when their F-16CM Fighting Falcon crashed at approximately 11:30 p.m., June 30, at Shaw Air Force Base.

The name of the pilot is being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification.

The aircraft, assigned to the 20th Fighter Wing, was on a routine training mission at the time of the crash. As soon as additional details become available, information will be provided.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
