Facility, Shelter Go Cashless

From November, Council will only accept cashless payments at our Waste Management Facility and Companion Animal Shelter to increase efficiencies and eliminate the cost of secure cash transport.

The change will affect only a small number of payments made at the two facilities each year. Currently, only 3 per cent of payments at the Waste Management Facility and 12 per cent at the Companion Animal Shelter are made using cash.

Council's move to cashless payments reflects industry best practices in safety and accountability. Removing cash from site reduces security risks to staff, improves transaction tracking, and ensures all payments are processed transparently and securely.

Moving all payments to cashless at these two locations will also save up to $7500 per year, plus redirect staff from counting and reconciling to other important tasks, to the benefit of the community.

Customers are currently not charged the merchant fees for savings/debit/credit card payments when making payments at these two Council facilities and this arrangement will continue.

All visitors to both these sites prior to November 1 will be clearly advised of the upcoming change upon entry.
