A future Wilson-O'Brien Liberal and Nationals Government will deliver regional Victoria its fair share of infrastructure funding with a new 25 per cent Fair Share Guarantee.
Under this commitment, 25 per cent of all new Victorian Government infrastructure expenditure will be allocated towards projects such as schools, hospitals, roads, emergency services, mental health and other community infrastructure in regional Victoria.
For more than a decade under Labor, regional Victoria has lost out when it comes to government spending and infrastructure investment.
Analysis by the independent Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) has confirmed less than 12 per cent of capital spending in the 2025-26 Budget is allocated to regional Victorians.
Worse still, the PBO estimates that asset investment per person in metropolitan Victoria was more than double than in regional Victoria, as promised projects including Wonthaggi, Torquay and West Gippsland hospitals, Bendigo's new fire station and dozens of regional schools remain undelivered or abandoned altogether.
Leader of the Opposition and Shadow Treasurer, Jess Wilson, said: "For a decade under Labor, regional Victoria has been shortchanged and overlooked.
"Our team's plan is simple - regional Victorians represent 25 per cent our population, so we will guarantee they receive 25 per cent of our infrastructure spending.
"Only a Liberal and Nationals Government will guarantee regional Victoria its fair share and deliver the quality infrastructure our regions deserve."
Leader of The Nationals and Shadow Minister for Regional Development and Liveability, Danny O'Brien, said: "A Wilson-O'Brien Liberal and Nationals Government will invest for all Victorians not just those who live in the city.
"Regional Victorians have had enough of a Labor Government that invests twice as much in Melbourne as it does in regional Victoria. While Labor spends $1 million per hour on interest, our regional communities are missing out.
"Only the Liberals and Nationals' Fair Share Guarantee will deliver regional Victorians their fair share of the road, rail, hospital, schools and other infrastructure that our communities deserve."
