Fake credit cards, cash seized, man charged in Tuggerah

A man has been arrested and multiple credit cards seized at a bank on the Central Coast, NSW Police say.

Police from the Brisbane Water Target Action Group (TAG) were conducting inquiries at a bank in Mann Street, Gosford, yesterday, when they were alerted to a suspected fraud occurring at a bank in Tuggerah.

Officers responded immediately and arrested a 25-year-old man at a bank in a shopping centre on Wyong Road.

Police will allege when the man was searched they found multiple fake credit cards and $1550 cash.

More fraudulent credit cards were found when a car parked at the centre was searched.

The man, from Rhodes, was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with four counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

He was refused bail to appear in Wyong Local Court today.

The police officers from Brisbane Water LAC had been making inquiries as part of Strike Force Ambleside.

Strike Force Ambleside was formed by Sydney detectives in 2016 to investigate large-scale fraud committed in the Sydney CBD; it has since been broadened to include Newcastle and the Central Coast.
