Family Food Festival For The 2018 Victoria Cup

The Andrews Labor Government is helping racegoers and families enjoy a festival of food and racing at the 2018 Victoria Cup at Tabcorp Park.

The Labor Government is providing more than $11,000 from its Victorian Racing Industry Fund Raceday Attraction Program towards the 2018 Victoria Cup this Saturday 13 October, as part of a $35,000 joint funding package.

There will be plenty of family-friendly action with a pop-up food truck festival and roving entertainers, along with two jumping castles and face painting.

Singer Mark Catlin will perform the national anthem before the first race, with cover band 80s Delivered and a DJ providing live music entertainment on the lawn throughout the day.

The Victoria Cup has a rich history and has been won by champions such as Paleface Adios, Popular Alm, three-time winner Koala King, Smoken up and Lennytheshark.

Tabcorp Park is providing almost $15,000 towards the race meeting and Harness Racing Victoria is contributing more than $9000.

Since 2014, the Labor Government has provided almost $517,000 to support six infrastructure projects and 13 racing events at Tabcorp Park Melton.

The racing industry in the outer Melbourne region generates more than $375 million for the Victorian economy annually and helps to sustain more than 3720 full-time equivalent jobs in the region.

As stated by Minister for Racing Martin Pakula

"The Victoria Cup is one of Australia’s premier middle-distance harness races and with entertainment off the track, the event will be a fantastic night at the trots."

"We’re investing in racing events across Victoria because they help boost tourism and provide local jobs."

As stated by Tabcorp Park Melton General Manager Gayle Harvey

"We thank the Victorian Government for its generous support of the 2018 Victoria Cup."

"We look forward to bringing together the local community to celebrate the 2018 Victoria Cup with a night of racing, food and family-friendly fun."
