Family of four in hospital following Wyndham Vale crash

A family of four are in hospital following a serious collision in Wyndham Vale last night, Victoria Police say.

The crash happened on Ballan Road near the intersection with Welcome Parade at 9.20pm.

Police believe a Mitsubishi Outlander with two adults and two children were stationary in the right turn lane, intending to turn into Welcome Parade, when a tip truck and trailer crashed into the rear of their vehicle.

The driver of the Volvo tip truck, a 51-year-old Kurunjang man, stopped at the crash scene and was assisting police with their enquiries.

One of the children, a 10-year-old girl, was conveyed to hospital in a critical condition.

The other three occupants of the car, a man and a woman and a 5-year-old boy were also conveyed to Melbourne hospitals.
