Fans invited to attend Bulldogs, Demons and Blues AFL open training sessions

Hot on their heels will see Western Bulldogs, Melbourne and Carlton enthusiasts given the chance to meet their sporting heroes at free community open training sessions on January 27, February 2 and 6.

Tourism, Sport and Major Events Portfolio Cr Jason O'Pray said the Sunshine Coast had become a popular home-away-from-home for a number of AFL clubs who head north to prepare for the 2019 season.

"The region's high-quality sporting facilities and great weather conditions are a fantastic combination for professional sporting teams to obtain an advantage ahead of the competitive season starting," Cr O'Pray said.

"December saw Hawthorn fans welcome their team to the Coast followed by the Brisbane Lions AFLW team earlier this month, which was an opportunity to watch Sunshine Coast players Shannon Campbell and Sharni Webb go through their paces.

"Now it's time for Western Bulldogs, Melbourne and Carlton supporters to fulfil their dream of meeting their favourite players and grabbing an autograph or photo at the upcoming community open sessions.

"I encourage the community to grab the family and head down to Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex to provide the warm Sunshine Coast welcome we are renowned for."

Grab the diary and lock in the free community open sessions:

Carlton Football Club: Wednesday, February 6, 9-11am

The community open sessions will be held at council's Maroochydore Multi Sports Complex on Fishermans Road.
