The Crisafulli Government is revitalising Queensland's maritime infrastructure, fast-tracking master-planning for the State's eight Government-owned and managed boat harbours.
Through $13.2 million in investment for accelerated master planning, the Crisafulli Government is backing the maritime industry to support jobs, boost tourism, and unlock economic growth in coastal communities.
Planning is already underway for Scarborough, Manly, Urangan and Rosslyn Bay. Boat harbours at Bowen, Mooloolaba, Snapper Creek (Tin Can Bay), and Cabbage Tree Creek (Shorncliffe) will follow.
Under Labor, these harbours were neglected and left to deteriorate without fast-tracked investment.
The Crisafulli Government is committing an additional $3.9 million to kickstart priority public infrastructure upgrades at Scarborough, ensuring the harbour remains a vibrant, accessible and productive asset for generations to come.
The finalised Scarborough State Boat Harbour Master Plan provides a long-term vision and strategic framework to guide development and decision-making over time, ensuring the harbour can continue to develop and renew.
The first planned upgrades include improvements to safety, public access and parking, landscaping, and upgraded accessible amenities.
Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the investment was about smarter planning and delivering the maritime infrastructure Queenslanders needed.
"We've fast-tracked this master planning because these harbours are critical to Queensland's future—supporting jobs, tourism and industry, and connecting communities up and down the coast," Minister Mickelberg said.
"These are working assets that deserve investment, not neglect
"We're making these boat safer, more sustainable, and better connected through accelerated master planning and delivery, right across the State.
"This funding will lay the foundation for community access, business and service opportunities, and provide for new jobs in enterprises like marinas, slipways, chandleries, public boat ramps and maritime tourism operations across the State's coastline."
Member for Redcliffe, Kerri-Anne Dooley said the implementation of the Scarborough State Boat Harbour Master Plan reflected the Crisafulli Government's commitment to the Redcliffe community and local businesses.
"It will ensure Scarborough State Boat Harbour continues to strike a balance between sustaining a prime community asset, while enhancing the experience and access for all," Ms Dooley said.
"I am proud to be part of the Crisafulli Government getting on with the job of delivering key public infrastructure at the Scarborough State Boat Harbour, which is a magnificent asset for the community located in the heart of Redcliffe.
