Fatal aircraft crash - Tomahawk north east Tasmania

A female occupant of a light aircraft that appears to have overshot a private runway on a property in the north east of Tasmania has died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, Tasmania Police say.

A male occupant of the aircraft was taken to the Launceston General Hospital with what are reported as minor injuries.

The crash occurred about 420pm on Saturday 20 January 2018.

The incident was attended by police, SES and TFS personnel and the Westpac rescue helicopter.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been advised and will attend the incident scene on Sunday 21 January 2018.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
