Fatal Bass Highway crash

Police and emergency services responded to a two-vehicle crash on the Bass Highway near Elizabeth Town about 7:40pm yesterday.

Sadly a 28-year-old woman from Blackstone Heights died at the scene.

Initial investigations indicate that the woman, who was travelling east in an orange 2010 Ford Festiva, crossed to the wrong side of the road and collided with a white LDV utility travelling in the opposite direction.

The occupants of the ute, a 42-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman from Gunns Plains, received non-life threatening injuries and were both taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Both vehicles were significantly damaged in the crash. Police would like to hear from anyone who saw either vehicle travelling on the Bass Highway before the crash, or who may have dash cam footage.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crash Investigators on 131 444. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au

Police will return to re-examine the scene on Wednesday morning. The Bass Highway near Elizabeth Town will be closed in both directions for an estimated 30 minutes from 10:30am.
