Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are currently at the scene of a fatal head-on collision in Lang Lang this afternoon, Victoria Police say.
Police have been told a vehicle was travelling along the South Gippsland Hwy just after 2pm when it veered across the other side of the road and collided with a car travelling in the opposite direction.
A third car went off the road after swerving to avoid a subsequent collision.
The male driver of the first car was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The female driver and single occupant of the car that was struck, who is yet to be formally identified, died at the scene.
The male and female occupants of the third vehicle did not sustain injuries.
The investigation is ongoing.
