Police are currently at the scene of a fatal crash outside the Coal Creek Historical Village near Korumburra which has claimed the life of a man, Victoria Police say.
Investigators believe two cars travelling in opposite directions on the South Gippsland Highway have collided about 1.30pm.
The male driver of one vehicle, who was the sole occupant, has died at the scene.
The male driver of the second vehicle, who was also the sole occupant, is being treated by ambulance for injuries and is likely to be airlifted to hospital.
The South Gippsland Highway is blocked in both directions and diversions are in place.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
