Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal collision which occurred in Ashwood this morning, Victoria Police say.
Officers have been told a red sedan was travelling east along High Street about 9.20am when the driver merged into another lane.
The car was hit by a truck already in the lane and spun into oncoming traffic.
A west bound car then collided with the sedan.
The driver of the sedan, believed to be a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital where he later died.
The driver of the truck was not injured while the female driver of the other car involved was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries.
