A woman has died following a two-vehicle crash which has blocked southbound lanes of the M1 near Ourimbah this morning, NSW Police say.
The crash happened shortly before 4.30am tomorrow, after a car was seen travelling north in the southbound lanes.
A short time later it was involved in a collision with another vehicle, which was heading south.
A woman driving the northbound vehicle died at the scene; a man driving the southbound vehicle was trapped for more than an hour before he was released and airlifted to john Hunter Hospital. His condition is not known.
Southbound lanes of the M1 remain closed, with southbound traffic being diverted via the Pacific Highway.
