Fatal crash in Forbes

A report will be prepared for the Coroner following a fatal crash in the state’s central west yesterday.

About 6.45pm (Sunday 26 November 2017) emergency services were called to Wirrinya Road, 11km south of the Newell Highway Forbes, following reports of a crash.

Initial inquiries suggest a Landcruiser utility and a Toyota Hilux utility have collided head on.

The driver of the Landcruiser utility and sole occupant, a 20-year-old man, died at the scene.

The male driver of the Toyota Hilux utility, aged 52 and the female front seat passenger were extricated by emergency services personnel.

The male driver sustained multiple leg fractures and has been airlifted to Westmead Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.

His female passenger, aged 46 sustained multiple fractures and was taken by road ambulance to Orange Base Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.


Officers from Lachlan Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene. Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.


Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
