A man has died following a single-vehicle crash in the Hunter region this morning, NSW Police say.
Just after 1am (Wednesday 14 March 2018), emergency services were called to Congewai Road in Congewai, about 20km south of Cessnock, following reports a car had crashed into a tree.
The driver, a 28-year-old woman, and a passenger, a 25-year-old woman, were taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition.
Another passenger, a man believed to be aged in his 20s, died at the scene. He has not been formally identified at this stage.
Officers from Hunter Valley Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward.
