Fatal crash near Taree, NSW

An investigation is underway following a fatal crash near Taree this afternoon, NSW Police say.

About 4.40pm today, a motorcycle with a sidecar was travelling west along Princes Street, Cundletown (about 10km east of Taree), when it collided with a vehicle travelling east along the same road.

Emergency services attended; however, the 61-year-old rider of the motorcycle died at the scene. No other passengers were travelling with him.

The driver and passenger of the vehicle were not injured, and the driver was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers from Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command are at the scene, and will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Road closures are in place and motorists are urged to visit www.livetraffic.com for updated traffic conditions.

Police will prepare a report for the Coroner.
