Fatal helicopter crash – Hobart Airport, TAS

At approximately 5.20pm on Tuesday the 7/11/2017, Police attended a helicopter crash at the Hobart International Airport.  The aircraft involved was carrying two occupants at the time of the incident.  The helicopter has crashed on the grass verge on the edge of the runway.  One occupant a 57 year old male was declared deceased at the scene.  The second occupant a 33 year old male was transported to the Royal Hobart where he is reportedly in a serious but stable condition, Tasmania Police say.

Hobart Airport was temporarily closed whilst the investigation took place.  The helicopter involved was transported to a secure facility for further examination.  Members of the Air Transport Safety Bureau are assisting Tasmania Police and the Coroner with the investigation.
