Fatal House Fire in Bushland Beach: Crews Respond

Townsville Child Protection and Investigation Unit (CPIU) is continuing to investigate a fatal fire at Bushland Beach in Townsville on 2 February, after two children involved in the incident passed away yesterday, 5 February.

Emergency services were called to the Gum Court address around 5:30am following reports of the property being fully alight.

Two teenage boys were able to escape the fire, with emergency services able to extract a two-year-old girl and a 13-year-old girl from the house.

Both girls were initially transported to the Townsville University Hospital in critical condition and passed away from their injuries yesterday.

Investigations into the circumstances of the fire are ongoing; it continues to be treated as non-suspicious.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who may have relevant information that could assist to come forward.
