Fatal House Fire in Punchbowl Prompts Emergency Response

A man has died following a house fire in Punchbowl yesterday.

About 10pm yesterday (Saturday 26 August 2023), emergency services were called to Highclere Avenue, Punchbowl, following reports of a house fire.

Officers attached to Bankstown Police Area Command arrived to find a unit on fire.

A 54-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze.

Police have established a crime scene and are investigating the cause of the fire.

As inquiries continue police are urging anyone with CCTV footage or information about the incident to contact Bankstown police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
