Fatal House Fire in Villawood: Emergency Crews Respond

A woman has died following a house fire in Sydney's west this evening.

Just after 6pm (Wednesday 12 August 2026), emergency services were called to a home on Tuncoee Road, Villawood, following reports of a fire.

Officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command attended and located a house well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the blaze and assisted in the evacuation of two occupants inside the home.

A woman in her 70s was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.

A short time later, officers were advised the woman had died in hospital.

She is yet to be formally identified.

The second occupant – a woman in her 50s – was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to Liverpool Hospital as a precaution.

A crime scene has been established with an investigation underway into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

No suspicious circumstances have been identified at this time.

A report will be prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.
