A man has died after being struck by a light rail carriage.
About 1.15pm today (Thursday 5 June 2025), emergency services were called to Devonshire Street, Surry Hills following reports a pedestrian was struck by a light rail carriage.
On arrival, officers attached to Surry Hills Police Area Command found a man, believed to be aged in his 40s under the carriage.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, however he died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
Police established a crime scene and an investigation into the cause of the incident has commenced.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
